I'm back!

Hello blogging world! Sorry for my lack of posts the last several weeks. Needless to say it's been rather hectic and we were blessed with a little surprise... We are expecting Baby Wilson #2!! Little babe is due to make it's arrival October 4th!!! Grant and I always imagined our family to consist of one more child but thought it wasn't going to happen for a couple more years!! So after the initial shock of finding out we're pregnant... We are now so excited and can't wait to complete our family!! Doing the math, it will put Cadence and new baby 21 months apart... Yikes!! More to come later about my worries and concerns on this matter!!

In other news, Spring has definitely arrived here in Albuquerque!!! Cade, grant, and I couldn't be happier!!! Grant has fixed up our backyard and that is where we have been spending most of our time these days. Cadence just loves being outside and it's been nice for me to just be able to sit and relax while she plays!

I hope spring has arrived where ever you live and you're able to enjoy it like we are!!! I'm happy to be feeling better now that the first trimester has passed and hoping I'll really be able to start this blog thing up again!!! I really think it's going to be a huge outlet for this MOTHER OF 2 KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF TWO!

February and 52 Degrees!!!

It was a beautiful day today so we decided to take our adventures outdoors, to the ZOO!!! Now I'm not sure who enjoys a trip to the zoo more, Cadence or mommy & daddy! Grant and I absolutely love to watch the animals, we literally spend a few minutes at each exhibit. I always have to tell grant something like, "when I worked at the zoo in Orange County we had that animal blah blah"! I'm pretty sure he's probably heard my stories more than he'd like to admit but he never seems to mind while I'm smiling from ear to ear telling them! Working at the zoo was probably the highlight of my animal career and I hope one day I can work at another zoo again (God knows I've applied enough times that hopefully they'll get sick of seeing my resume and finally HIRE me!).
Cadence always seems to enjoy herself at the zoo too, not sure if she enjoys the animals or just loves to be outside (I'm guessing the latter). Regardless, she had a great time and even napped for 30 whole minutes!
Naps in the Land of the Wilson's have been hard to come by since baby girl was 6 weeks old. We've had to come to terms with the fact that our little girl hates naps and on an average day will take two 30 minute naps. Yes, you did read right... Two 30 minute naps!!! Needless to say, mommy doesn't have much alone time to get things done but she has learned to do her best with those few precious minutes.
Xoxo,
Val

BBQ Upgrade :)

Happy Tuesday everyone!! The Wilson's had a fantastic day... We're fortunate to have the most generous and loving family ever! First, my parents Abel & Catherine want Cadence to spend the night with them all of the time. I think way more than the average grandparents do(lucky us), so whenever I have class/work early or just need a break we gladly send little Cade on her way to Grandma & Grandpa. We're lucky (as are they) that it truly is her home away from home. She loves going over there and gets completely spoiled by everyone, it also helps that Nana (Cade's great-grandma), aunt & uncle, and cousins live right across the street! She gets so much attention and she sure loves it!! I couldn't be more grateful to get a small break because as all parents know raising a child can be exhausting at times but don't get me wrong we miss her so much and spend most of our away time talking how about how cute & funny Cadence is! ;) So not only did we get a rested night of sleep but Grant also woke to his brand new Weber grill arriving. What man wouldn't be happy about that?? We had originally purchased a different grill for Grant's birthday but his step-dad wanted us to have something better that would last longer. And when someone insists on buying you an upgrade it's hard to say no. So after purchasing online and getting it assembled by Lowes we now have a beautiful Copper Weber Genesis BBQ Grill!! I haven't seen Grant so excited in a very long time and he deserved it after having his surgery last week. So having no patience at all we were on a hunt for steaks to grill... after 3 attempts (apparently abq is on a beef tenderloin shortage?) we decided just to grill rib eyes, my favorite!! And well, the Weber proved itself in one night... Best steaks ever!!

All in all we couldn't have had a better day and night! We love spending time as a family together and Cadence gives us so much joy! She has become such a giggle monster and we're so lucky!

A big thanks to Lynda, Rey, Amberlyn, & Nick for our Weber! We can't wait for your next visit so you can see just how great the grill is!!!

Have a good night!

Is it really Monday?

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I know the Wilson's sure did and we're ready to start our real weekend with Grant tomorrow! It's taken some adjustment since he stated back at PF Changs to not have a normal weekend off but now we're really enjoying having Tues/Wed as our actual days off.

Last night we had the pleasure of having our dear friends over for Taco Night!!! Per usual, Uncle Clint, Uncle Ben, Aunt Brittany, and little Kyla cruised on over to our new house!! Since we moved to the west side we unfortunately haven't been having family nights with the Blackmon's as often but we're hoping that is going to change now that we're getting settled in. Kyla and Cadence truly are BFFs and they love seeing each other!! Kyla will be two in July so she's several months older than Cade but it's so fun to see them interact and baby-talk to each other!! Plus us parents always have a great time chatting especially us moms who occasionally like to vent to one another about our sleepless nights and other challenges associated with being stay-at-home mommies and part-time workers!!

Moving away from our fun night, I've decided that this blog is hopefully going to force me to take more pictures. Yes, I know some of you are asking "what more pictures Val??" and how is that possible to do seeing as how many of you receive weekly if not daily pics of Cadence, haha! Well yes as I do take many many pics of our precious baby girl, I have very few family and friend pictures. You all are so important to us it makes me sad realizing I don't have more memorable pics of everyone together! (And please bear with me as I learn the ins and outs of posting pics to the blog :)

Until my next post, Happy Monday and hope you have a great week!

Land of blogging???

Hello blogging world... After much thought and debate I have decided that creating our own family blog is something I'm excited to start doing! Thanks to pinterest I have started reading several blogs and really enjoy them so what the heck why not start our own!

Just a little about the Wilson Family, I am the wife and mommy to my amazing husband Grant and beautiful daughter Cadence, along with our furry kids O.C., Rudy, and Buddy! More about them to come in later posts. We currently reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I'm assuming anyone that reads this will be family and friends but for those of you who don't know, we live in New Mexico. I know I just stated that but apparently as educated as the U.S. supposedly is, most people think NM is in Mexico. well sorry to burst your Harvard, USC, or Brown education bubbles but we indeed live in the United States! This state is located between Arizona and Texas... I'm sure you've heard of those states?? Better known as the Land of Entrapment, excuse me Land of Enchantment due to it's scenic beauty.

Anyways, I hope this blog gives you insight to how our family lives it's crazy, sometimes hectic and always full of love life! Hope you enjoy reading! Please fill free to leave comments and I look forward to reading your blogs as well!
